    Gauging actual device performance

Just wondering if anyone knows of any good guidelines on gauging how a midlet might perform on an actual device. Especially when developing things like interactive real-time games, things might seem to run fine on the emulator, but I don't think the performance on the emulator is in anyway reflective of how it would perform on an actual device. Any ideas?

The emulators in the J2ME wireless toolkit from sun are timed as "real devices" and should act as a good speed tester.

for example my app ran quite smoothly on the nokia emu. but not so smooth on the Sun ones!
