    How to manually show the menu?

    How do I manually pop up a menu from my view? I want to have custom softkeys, one of which either carries out an action or launches a menu depending on application state. In order to do this, I need to catch the softkey in HandleCommandL and then check whether I want to display a menu or not, and if so display the menu... but how?

    I suppose another alternative is to let the framework launch the menu in any case and the disable it in DynMenuPaneInitL (or whatever that was called), but this sounds messy.

    Problem solved:

    MenuBar()->TryDisplayMenuBarL();

    A related question:

    If I define my own softkeys (AVKON_CBA_BUTTON) in resource files, what command id must I use in order to make the framework automatically launch the menubar from that button? This has to be possible somehow because the predefined resources do it, e.g. R_AVKON_SOFTKEYS_OPTIONS_EXIT.

    EAknSoftkeyOptions

    Easily looked up in avkon.hrh.
