Newbie: Can't install java app on 3650. Pls Help!

    hi,

i'm embarrassed to be asking this. but i've been sloughing through the documentation and am completely baffled why i can't get the java app installed on my phone. i tried searching through the forums, and no one else seemed to be having the same problem.

i followed the step-by-step intro guides and built the HelloSuite example. It runs fine on the emulator.

i then emailed my 3650 phone the .jad and .jar file as attachments.

i open the email and the attachments. the phone asks me if i want to install it. then it goes through some system messages to quick to see and then ends up with an "Applications: System Error!"

what step am i missing? does emailing the .jar and .jad files not work? does the 3650 come automatically with the java virtual machine or do i have to do some prep for the phone not stated in the guides? is there ANY way to get a more descriptive error message?

the following is the .jad file:

    MIDlet-1: HelloSuite, HelloSuite.png, HelloMIDlet
    MIDlet-Jar-Size: 1684
    MIDlet-Jar-URL: HelloSuite.jar
    MIDlet-Name: HelloSuite
    MIDlet-Vendor: Sun Microsystems
    MIDlet-Version: 1.0
    MicroEdition-Configuration: CLDC-1.0
    MicroEdition-Profile: MIDP-2.0

thank you so much for any help you can provide. this has been frustrating.

    There's your problem. The 3650 doesn't support MIDP 2.0.
Change that to MIDP-1.0 (and make sure the application isn't using anything that isn't part of MIDP 1.0), and you should be OK.
