Nokia 6210 Bluetooth -- Is it always ON?

    Hi,

I'm about to embark on a project where I want to use a Nokia 6210 + Bluetooth phone as a smart-tag device to detect if a person is within a particular area (i.e. within the 10m range of a fixed bluetooth receiver).

For this to work, whatever the user carries on her person must always be sending/receiving bluetooth signals. I know with my current 6210, it will only receive IR signals when the option is selected.

Is this the same with BlueTooth? Or, does the 6210 always reply to the BlueTooth Resouce Descovery Protocol?

A reply by email would be also very helpful.

    Thank-you,
    Mark Assad

In Nokia 6210 the Bluetooth radio is always on if the Nokia Connectivity Battery (Bluetooth battery) is inserted.

Therefore the 6210 with Connectivity Battery can be found and it can be distinguished by its BDAddress.

In Nokia phones with integrated Bluetooth (6310,6310i,7650,8910) the Bluetooth radio can be switched on/off by the user.
