    Can Text Messages be printed out?

    Hi,
    I have a Nokia 6310i mobile and I am just wondering if I can print out text messages to a printer. Is there some kind of export facility?
    Do I need an infrared port on my PC or do I need some kind of serial connection and software?
    If anybody has any ideas or information that would be great

    Hello gfitzgerald,

    yes, you'll need a PC connection and a software that downloads your messages. Then you can do with them whatever you like.

    Can Text Messages be printed out?

    Thanks,
    But does anybody know what type of physical connector and what software will work on Windows 2000/XP?

    The 6310i supports serial, IrDA and Bluetooth connections. Pick your favourite.

    For serial => COM1 via DLR-3P cable
    For IrDA => IR port
    For Bluetooth => BT transmitter

    The non-developer would then use the Nokia PC Suite (comes with the phone) where he can easily download and print out his messages without extra programming.

    The programmer who wants to code that himself (probably you :-)) would then have a look at the PC Connectivity SDK 3.0, which contains the same components as the PC Suite, but no applications.

    Printing SMS messages

    Once you have the SMS PDUs on your PC you'll need something to decode them

    Would the Nokia PC Suite software do this?
    (By PDU do you mean Protocol Data Units, I'm coming from a non Phone background)

    Yes, the suite handles the PDU for you. As long as you don't work with AT commands directly, you don't have to decode the PDU yourself.
