    fatal error: 'perl' when building the MMS Example

    Hi, I use the SDK v1.2 and MS VC++ 6.0. When I tired to build the MMS Example v1.2 on the emulator, I typied 'abld build wins udeb' in command line, but it shows the fatal error 'perl', return error code '0x9'
    Does anyone know how to solve?

    have you check that your system path includes the folder where cmd.exe can be found.

    yes

    I think when installing the SDK, it has already automatically set all the necessary paths.
    Is it due to the version of SDK? Since I heard someone successfully built the application on the emulator with the SDK 1.0.
    I think I need help.
    Thanks a lot.

    yes, but have you checked the path variable (or just thinking about it) ? somebody said some time ago that assumption is the the mother of all mistakes...

    So chec the location & your path. In case you have it wrong, change it, re-start the computer and try again....

    also check that CPP (the C pre-processor)is in your path.
    (\SYMBIAN\6.1\SHARED\EPOC32\GCC\BIN)

    I also checked from symbian.com that this could be caused by the fact that the SDK is not installed in C:-Drive, in which case un-install the SDK and re-install into the C:-Drive.

    In symbian.com also it was also suggested that you could get it working by replacing the line:

    $cpp_spec .= "<\"$sourcefile\""; with

    $cpp_spec .= "\"$sourcefile\"";

    but thats propably not recommended to be done.

    It works

    Yes, after I replaced the line:

    $cpp_spec .= "<\"$sourcefile\""; with

    $cpp_spec .= "\"$sourcefile\"";
    Now it works.

    I am very curious. Could you tell me the reason? I am looking forward to knowing more about it.
    Thanks a lot.
