    .rsg ?

I am trying to compile the Helloworld example.
I made the .dsw and .dsp with "bldmake bldfiles / abld makefile vc6",
then I compiled the project, but Visual C says there is an error: "Cannot open include file: 'HelloWorld.rsg' "
should .rsg files be generated by some utility?
and why .rsg files are #included <.rsg> and not #included".rsg" ?
using <> in the #include directive tell the compiler to look for the file in the compiler directory and not in the project one...

    RE: .rsg ?

    Hi,

How do you made the .dsw and .dsp with "bldmake bldfiles / abld makefile vc6"? Because after I type "abld makefile vc6", there is a message " can't find abld.pl on path.

Could you please tell me how you did it? Thanks in advance.

    RE: .rsg ?

    Hi,

RSG files are generated from resource files (.RSS) and the resource compiler put them in to an include directory, "%EPOCROOT%/Epoc32/include". That is why you have to use <.rsg> syntax instead of ".rsg".

I can't say what is the problem in your case. What SDK you are using and what is the helloworld example you are trying to compile?

    RE: .rsg ?

I noticed same phenomenon. I installed Series60 SDK 0.9 and
did bldmake bldfiles and abld makefile vc6
    (Symbian\6.1\Series60\Epoc32ex\Helloworld).
I opened helloworld.dws and dsp into VC6++ and build process
stopped: #include <helloworld.rsg> could not be found.
I scanned Symbian directory and its subdirectory and did not find
any .rsg files. How to invoke resource compiler to make them!?

    RE: .rsg ?

    Hi,

Resources can be compiled manually by invoking "abld resource". However it is also done as a part of build process ("abld build" or using vc6). The reason for the problem that .rsg files cannot be found could be that the resourse compilation has failed earlier.
