    National Character Encoding with MMS Classes 1.1

    According to a FAQ from this site one can modify MMEncoder.java (EncodePart method, under "Well Known Content Types",
    "//write ContentType")
    //m_Out.write(0x81); // charset parameter
    //m_Out.write(0x83); // us-ascii code

    modifying 0x83 to 0xEA to make UTF-8 the default encoding.
    In my cases this moves boxes for German umlaut characters a bit but they're still garbage characters. Does anyone know what charset parameter (0x81 above) to use for German?

    Best regards,
    Marko

    Workaround

    Classes 1.2 have a method:
    ContentPart cp = new ContentPart();
    cp.setCharEncoding("UTF-8"); //specity UTF-8 for national characters

    Now that I got 1.2 working this solves national character encoding problem from 1.1. In the phone emulator umlauts show nicely.

    Regards,
    Marko
