Question about the format of mid file

    Hi,

    First.....I am very poor in English....^ ^

I am trying mid file in Nokia s40 and s60.

I find some midi file can be play by s60 and can not play by s40.

I try to use Nokia PC Suit: sound convert.......it can convert mid to sp-mid.

    1. Convert a mid file and directly send to Nokia s40 phone..........can play.
    2. Convert a mid file and save to pc and send by WAP Push.....can not play.

The screen will show "can not open that file".

The saved-mid file is bigger than directly send to phone by PC Suit.

Does anyone know what I can try?

    Thank a lot

    Eric

    Hi,

Do you have set the correct MIME type for the sp-midi ringtone to the server side. It should be audio/sp-midi.

    Hi,

    All my procedure:

1.Use Nokia Sound Convert to trans a mid file; Orginal mid is mid A, new mid is mid B.
2.Save the mid B to PC.
3.Use wap download mid to phone Nokia s60 and Nokia s40.
    4.Nokia s60 can play mid B.
5.Nokia s40 can NOT play mid B; s40 know this mid B is a mid file and show "can not open these file". The error descriptions is the same with: download a un-stand jpeg file to s40. s40 know that file is jpeg but can not open it.

    Then:
I use Sound Convert and save mid B to s40. It works.
I find the file to save in pc is bigger than to save in nokia s40.

My orginal mid A files is about 21k.
Mid B saved in PC is about 18k.
Mid B saved in Nokia s40 is about 15.

That is why I think to save in PC and to save in phone MAY be difference.

    That is a special case.

I have never met before. File should be the same to save in Phone or PC.

Now, my company is trying to make some mid files. We begin to find some case will happen.

We doubt that is due to the orginal mid file.......we are aggregator, not maker/content provider. We do not how to make mid files. We just test if a mid file can be play in phone. Some mid makers do not how to make stand sp-mid. So we use Nokia Sound Convert to change mid to sp-mid.

    Thanks,
