Which Java phone to first start

    Hi!
I would like to start programming some small app in j2me.
Not having java2 support in my phone, I've got to buy a new one , or better two (for my wife!! :-)

[I need a small app that shows and memorizes new prices in a spreadsheet, and that could connect with a PC Dbase to store them sometimes...]

I noticed that many nokia phone officaly "support" java, but i cannot get the differences between them.

For example I saw a nokia 3510i at 70€ and a nokia 6220 at 230€... will they do the same for my java needs ?

What do you suggest me to buy ?
...or better: which features do you suggest me to check to be present in my new first developpemnt phones ?

    Thanks for you help!.

    Hi,

Which handset you should purchase is upto you.
Just check that they support Java.
For detail specs, refer main page of forum. There you can specify the device and the detail info will be available.

But,if you want to develope application on different series phones then dont go for same series phones.
may be 1 of Series 30 and 1 of Series 40.
But this is my personal suggetion.

Here is a good place to look at which phones support which java APIs.

my advice would be to buy any cell phone which contains CLDC 1.1 and MIDP 2.0

and in my personal opinion buy a nokia 6680 for a start.

Since the first posts was on 2004, I doubt whether they are still looking for some replies. Any way, appreciate your reply!

We have people that search for answers before they post. It doesn't matter when the answer is given, one day or one year later, generally they help someone at some time.
