    Image size limits?

Is there a limit in image size in phones such as 3660? I have a midlet that downloads an image from a server. With 572x439 png image (32kb) the phone just freezes (on 6600 this works fine). 3660 works ok when the image size is 174*205 (6kb). Or is this MIDP1->MIDP2 issue?

there certainly is an issue with the size as most of what u download is stored on to the RMS which has a fixed size from anything between 8kb to 32 kb depending on the mobile device

    Well ,

    First solution to rooster..

There is a utility called PNG Crush .. which optimises the size of PNG Image ..
I have used it and it really helped ..

and Here i wud like to clarify one thing ..

The RMS size varies from phone to phone ( as u said mayank)

but it does not vary from 8 KB to 32 KB ..
8Kb is the minimum requirement from j2ME ...
It can go up in MB's also if phone has more memory

    Correct me if i m wrong ,

    Ok

What i think is that it is nothing related to MIDP .

It depends on individual phone's memory and and its temporary buffer...
