The big frustration on Nokia 6230 about audio and video!!!

Nokia 6230 supports only three types of audio. These are
    audio/x-tone-seq
    audio/midi
    audio/sp-midi
You can create players for these contenttypes by using MMAPI in J2Me
    Ex: By using MMAPI
    InputStream in=....
    Player p=Manager.createPlayer(in,"audio/midi");

but you cant create for others!
when i see it i am frustrated!!!
It dont support video!!!!! thatsss very very bad!!!!!

I think Nokia6230 should support the following media types:
    audio/mp3
    video/mpg
    video/3gpp

THE BIG PROBLEM IS 6230 dont support
    capturing audio and video!!!
you cant create players for capturing and recording!!!
    6230 should support:
    capture://video
    capture://audio
    capture://audio_video

I HAVE HEARD THAT NOKIA WILL REALISE THE SOFTWARE OF THE 6230. HEY NOKIA HEAR ME AND SUPPORT THE
    capture://video
    capture://audio
    capture://audio_video
    audio/mp3
    video/mpg
    video/3gpp
AND SO ON IN THE MMAPI OF J2ME OF THE 6230 !!!!!!

    ARGH!

I've just seen this too on my 6230, after running our test app.

    What's happening with this?

    Don't hold your breath

    Read this doc:

    http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/1,65...ml&fileID=4992

It tells you that 6230 only supports playback of tone, midi and sp-midi, and no capture. I doubt it will change any time soon.

We bought it because it is the first S40v2 platform device available, and as such gives us the ability to test our software for compatibility with these new phones.

Unfortunately the phone is not as exciting in real life now we have it, but we do have the BT API on it which is nice (but no OBEX?!).

    not exciting!

yes the phone is not as exciting in real life
at least we have a bluetooth API in 6230
but this is not enough for me. NOKIA must enchange the MMAPI of 6230!

I think you will be waiting a long time. There must be technical reasons for it, maybe lack of flash ROM space, performance problems etc

    memory problems?

i dont think there is a memory problem on 6230 because they calim that 6230 is faster. i think so and it has 8 Mb ram. i think it is enough for playing mp3,video etc by using MMAPI. NOKIA SHOULD FIX THIS PROLEM IMMEDIATLY!
by the way where can i download the software of 6230 or other nokia mobile phones and how can install it to the mobile phone?

    You are missing the point

You need to think about the commercial aspect of phone manufacture.

First, Speed != memory. Second, I'm not talking RAM I'm talking flash rom (or ram whatever they used) for storing the phone O/S and the VM code and classes.

This is often a small amount in embedded devices, to keep costs down.

I may be wrong of course, but they will probably consider the non-Java MP3 player code more important than a good MMAPI implementation.

what ever i am not also mentioning the mp3 player but also
6230 doesnt support none of the content types below
    capture://video
    capture://audio
    capture://audio_video
    audio/mp3
    video/mpg
    video/3gpp
    and so on..........

the NOKIA must answer these questions!
hey NOKIA's enginners where are you?
why does 6230's MMAPI doesnt support these types.
i am waiting some NOKIA's expert to answer these questions.
