How can I make a screensaver?

I have made an animation as a midlet using Sun's J2ME toolkit. Now my client says that they want an applet, not an application. They want to use it as a sceensaver and they say that it needs to be an applet to function that way. As the animations is now, it can't be turned off, and that is the problem.

How can I modify my animation so it functions as a screensaver and can be turned off?

check out the states of the midlet..and since u want a screensaver which would be trigerred after a point in time..keep a timer in one thread and yur screensaver in the other thread..so the moment certain time limit expires in which the user ddnt use the mobile..u can make the screensaver thread active..and the moment can user action is registered such as keypressed(), stylusmovement etc...then make the screensaver thread sleep and invoke the main thread where yur core application is running..
    hope that helps..

Unless the device supports true multitasking, can this really be done like you wrote?
