    Midp Extensions.

    Please answer the following questions

    1. Can I add data to the address book using J2me, using the standard Midp api or any of the extensions.

    2. Can I access the phone number using the standard Midp api or any of the extensions.

    3. Can I access the videos, ringtones etc that the user has stored
in his phone, using the standard Midp api or any of the extensions.

    4. Are there any extensions to Midp to access these kinds of device specific features.

    Regards,
    Jaak

    Hi

Your requested functionality can be done using the JSR 75 (Fileconnection and PIM API). This API will allow you to do exactly what you are asking for.

Currently we do not have any Nokia handsets supporting this API, but well hopefully we will have it soon.

Anyway I except that they will be a lot of restriction when using the API to access user data in the phone, e.g. native UI notes asking the user if it is okay this MIDlet read/delete some entry in the phone book or a file.

Not that I know of, but you can find devices supporting the PIM/PDA-API at http://www.j2mepolish.org/devices/devices-pdaapi.html
