    Nokia SDK 1.2, nmake missing

    hi!

after deinstalling CodeWarrior, I wanted to clean up the installation and so installed the Nokia Edition of SDK 1.2

when i now do a abld makefile, i get an error about
    nmake missing.
what exactly is nmake? is it just a make with a different name? is it part of the perl installation or the tools?

nmake is a tool provided by MS to build makefiles.

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de..._reference.asp

The older Series 60 SDK's, 1.2, used nmake to drive the makefile generation for build targets. I believe the newer SDK's, 2.0 & 2.1 are using gmake which they can provide as open source.

    *sigh*

... so the "SDK" is not really a full SDK, but only Symbian supplements to already installed SDKs for windows development... It would be REALLY nice if the setup program would complain about missing prerequisites instead of installing a heap of useless junk onto my harddrive and leave me totally clueless with the resulting errors :-(
