Developing mobile applications for the DoJa-Platform

    Hi there,

I am about to develop an application for the DoJa-platform [Japanese derivate of the J2ME-API]. Unfortunately, it seems to be rather difficult to retrieve up2date information on developing DoJa-apps in the web, since the sites are either in Japanese or full of dead-links, sometimes both :-/

Can anybody help me by providing some useful URLs on the DoJa-API or information about sites which offer emulators for device-testing? THX!

There is an introductory article at http://www.sys-con.com/story/?storyid=36692&DE=1 . Unfortunately, some of the links in the article are no longer valid, but you can get a lot of documentation in English at http://www.nttdocomo.co.jp/english/p_s/i/index.html by following the "i-appli" link. (I couldn't get this page to load in Firefox - you might have to use IE.) I haven't tried developing for Doja yet, so I can't tell you how useful these documents are.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, pal! Maybe also know about some site where I can download i-appli handset-emulators? The i-Jade from Zentek, which used to be available for free is not downloadable without charge anymore, or am I wrong?

    Try this URL: http://www.jtgl.org/modules/mylinks/...p?cid=9&lid=42

I'd be interested if you posted occasional notes on your experiences with Doja. Telstra, the biggest phone company here in Australia is introducing an i-mode service next month, and as far as I know this will be the first i-mode implementation in an English-speaking country, so you would think there'd be some opportunities for anyone willing to skill up in Doja.

    following the link
    http://www.jtgl.org/modules/mylinks...hp?cid=9&lid=42
    leads to a 404.

It´s either temporarily down or a dead link :-(

2/3 of the sites dealing with i-mode are full of deadlinks-how come?

Sorry, I might have messed up the link. Try this : http://www.jtgl.org/modules/mylinks/...p?cid=9&lid=42

If that fails, just go to www.jtgl.org and you will see the link under "Recent Links" in the right column of the page.

    Best of luck.

    hi walkal.

Thx. I have already downloaded this SDK. The SDK-installer is incredibly stupid, however. It keeps on saying it doesn´t find the SUN IDE installation dir, and you can´t even manually browse for it. Plus, the i-appli-tool doesn´t let you specify the directories where sources and ressources are kept. I also haven´t managed to manually implement the SDK+emulator into my IDE [which is SUN Studio Mobility 6 2004Q3].

What IDE are you using while developing i-applis?

I haven't been developing i-applis at all. I found these resources a few months ago, but never got around to doing anything with them. (If I was developing doja apps, I would be trying to do it in Eclipse.)

You could try searching/asking for advice in some of the other forums - JavaRanch, j2me.org, Sun's Java Mobility Forum. Also, the jtgl.org site has a Doja forum, but it is not very active.

    Good luck.
