different brand MMC cards have different problems with them. For instance, I have an ATP 1 GB MMC card in mine, and my 6230 shuts down and restarts every once in awhile.

Also, the problem could be with the version firmware on your phone.

What version firmware do you have? to check this, dial *#0000# and then the call button on your 6230 and it will tell you the firmware version.

Also, what brand MMC card do you have?

    Hope that helps!

here's a compatibility list I found online. I am pretty sure it is good. I think it was based on research done by this person.

    6230 COMPATIBLE MMC LIST

    APACER 128, 256
    ATP 128, 256, 512
    EXPANSYS 128, 256
    EXTREMEMORY 128, 256
    HITACHI 128, 256, 512
    HTL 128, 256
    KINGMAX 128, 256
    KINGSTON 128
    MICROSIM 32, 64, 128, 256, 512
    MOBYMEMORY 128, 256, 512, 1GB
    NCP NEXON 128, 256
    NOKIA MMC CARDS 32, 64
    PNY 128
    PQI 64, 128
    PRETEC 128, 256, 512, 1GB
    RIDATA 64, 128, 256
    SANDISK 64, 128
    TAKEMS 64, 128, 256
    TRANSCEND 64, 128
    TWINMOSS 32, 64, 128

    MMC CARDS TO AVOID
    KODAK 64, 128, 256- TOTALLY NOT COMPATIBLE
KINGSTON 256, PQI 256 - best to avoid coz having varied results among users

as far as the problem with your phone only reading so much space on the card, it could be that the card may not be all that compatible with the phone and firmware. I wasn't able to find any info specifically that matched your problem, but i am guessing that it has something to do with your MMC card.

I'll keep looking into it. and post information here for you if I find anything.

    Use MobyMemory

I've read many threads and 90% of them say, that MobyMemory cards are "the most compatible" MMCs for 6230. Especially the BIG ones (1GB, 512MB). I'm, about to buy one.
