GPRS connections(WAP ones / Internet ones

I want to download some data from server through my program by connecting to servlet using socket

I tried to do this using socket but came to know that It need to have GPRS to be an Internet one on phone for normal sockets to work but i want to have connection when GPRS is Wap one. so I wrote some code using wap stack and succeeded.
(I know rhat GPRS connections are of two types - WAP ones and Internet ones.)
further i want to download data using Socket if some phone SIM has internet GPRS connection and WAP Stack if some phone SIM has WAP GPRS connection

My question is how know that particular connection is Internet one or WAP one programmatically , so that i use sockets for internet one and WAP Stack for Wap one.

    Thanks in advance,

Re: GPRS connections(WAP ones / Internet ones

I have spent a lot of time in finding the same , never succeeded.

    I did the following:

-Provide a setting where the user can define the Access point to use.
-Try connecting normally (as an internet access point) with a time out
-if connection is made good else
    -use the following
to apply proxy filter which is usually used for wap gateways.
-if this also times out , the access point is invalid.
