Unhappy Newbie: How do I get a "Hello world" going on a 6230 with eclipse?

I have installed eclipse, Nokia Dev suite 2.0, and Nokia DP 2.0 SDK. I do not have a clue as to how to get a simple program (anything) built. I can´t find any document giving step by step instructions for newbies working in this environment.

I could not use Sun´s IDE because my JVM is 1.5 and there seems to be an incompatibility there. So I use eclipse instead.

    Any hints would be appreciated.

Get a book or search for a website to learn at least what is J2ME and the structure of a midlet...
it is a good way to start.

    Try netbeans.

I've tried Eclipse + EclipseMe and for me, it wasn't a success mainly because I had no understanding of the process of building a midlet.

Instead i used Eclipse exclusively as a editor and compiled via the commandline (edited the jad file by hand) which gave a better understanding of how the midlet is built.

Lately I've switched to using netbeans because it has a mobility plugin which gives a very simple starting point for midlet programming. netbeans can be downloaded from: http://www.netbeans.org/

If you find that tool too confusing you'll have to read some tutorials/buy a book on the subject, and you'll get the hang of it quickly

    Yours sincerely
    Claus Christiansen.
