How do I upgrade the firmware on my 6600?

I have a Nokia 6600 and I want to switch it to the 4.0.x firmware to fix a few bugs in the J2ME environment. I went over to my local T-mobile store and they said that they couldn't do it and I should contact Nokia. Is there any chance that I could download the new software from somewhere and install it myself? I have Bluetooth and I'm not averse to installing things on my phone. If there is a download link somewhere, please point me to it.

    Thanks

You can't do it on your own without relatively expensive equipment and illegally distributed firmware files.

Find your nearest Nokia authorized service center. Where that is depends on where in the world you are:

That's what I feared. I sent it in. I guess they will get it back to me in a week or so.

I must say, I think this is not the optimal way this could be done. Couldn't Nokia just put the files on a website so we could download and install them? That's how home routers, etc, work these days. Why not phones?

    Thanks for the info.

Some phones do it, too, but there aren't very many (and no Nokia phone yet). Some day.
