Installing midlet over the air in nokia 6620

    Hi,

We are trying to download a midlet in the nokia 6620 over the air from our web server. In the web server, we have a link in a html page to the jar file of our application. The jar file has all the attributes defined inside manifest file. We are not using jad file. But after the jar file download from the browser, it is trying to open that file through RealPlayer and showing "Could not play media clip". What should I do? Please help.

    Thanks,
    Goutam.

Typically, when downloading OTA, you would download the .jad, which will then request the download of the .jar file. It knows where to get the .jar file from because that should be specified. To check if the location of the. .jar has been given, open the .jad in any text-editor. There should be a line that says MIDlet-Jar-URL: <url here>. If it doesn't have that, add it.

    So step-by-step:
Check that the .jar URL is defined in the .jad
If it is, put it on your server
If not, modify and put on your server
Go to the URL of your .jad file
    Download the .jad
The .jad should download and install .jar
Find the MIDlet in your applications folder (or somesuch)

    Hope that helps,

Make also sure that the server sends the correct MIME headers for the .jar and .jad file types:

    application/java
    application/java-archive
    application/x-java-archive
    text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor
