Creating a new DA or AMS

    Hi Everybody

I am trying to write a new Discovery Application for MIDP 2.0. Basically I want to create my own browser to locate midp applications and then install them. Is there any way I can do this?

As I understand it I will somehow either have to write my own Application Management Software or communicate with the existing one. I see no interface to communicate with the existing AMS in the MIDP spec, so....does anyone have any thoughts on how to do this?

Don't know if I understand your requirements correctly but what about using platformRequest (MIDP2.0) refering to an url of the JAD/JAR?

This would start installation of a midlet after confirmation.

Java wasn't really designed to do such "low level" stuff, so i'm not even sure if it /can/ do such "low level" sutff. So my recomendation would be to use C/varient. But i'm sure someone will be able to come up with an excellent Java solution if one exists.
