    Recording audio

    I wanted to record audio streams and send them over the gprs
    so i tried the follwing:
    Player p= Manager.createPlayer("capture://audio?endian=little&signed=unsigned&rate=8000&bits=8&encoding="+enc);

    where enc is:
    ulaw (size =7000byte/sec)
    pcm (size= 7000bype/sec)
    gsm (not working)

    1st Why isn't the gsm working?
    2nd are there any other encoding types?

    Did you get this working?

    From my experience it's impossible to access the recorder's data during the actual recording. (only works after you stop the recording).

    Can anyone confirm this?

    You can query supported recording media types by calling System.getProperty("audio.encodings").

    And yes, you need to commit recording by calling RecordControl.commit() before recorded data can be found from your OutputStream. (this will also stop the player). See details and example code from RecordControl documentation.

    scud, if you have the 6260 and 6670, by Manager.getSupportedContentTypes( "capture" ), you can get the list: "audio/wav, audio/au, audio/amr, audio/raw". but when you record a amr audio, you will get a Symbian OS Error: -1. So the list is not true. Is nokia cheating us? I really want to know about it!
