    Angry .mp3 music file not playing on Nokia 6230

    hi all!!
    this is a wierd problem i just cant solve!

    i have this MIDP2.0 application to play .mp3 music file.
    The application runs perfectly on Nokia 6630 but does not run on Nokia 6230. Both the devices have the SOUND support for .mp3 files.

    heres a part of the code
    ...
    InputStream is = getClass().getResourceAsStream(musicFile);
    p = Manager.createPlayer(is, contentType);
    p.realise();
    p.start();
    ...

    Please help!

    thanx in advance.

    Do you mean the 6230 or 6230i?

    The 6230 (Old device) does not support MP3 playback via MMAPI.

    To retrieve a list of supported types use :

    Manager.getSupportedTypes( null );

    On many ocassions phones that have the ability to play certain media formats from native apps don't expose that functionality through Java. For example all the old Series 40 phones (like the 7210 and the 6100) that can play polyphonic midi tunes, but with Java you can only play monophonic ott files.
