    data loading performance

I have done some test on n-gage.

Loading an image in jar whose size is 3.38KB, 70times takes 36secs, and loading 70 images in a single dat file in jar whose size is 217KB, takes 34secs. An image object is created for each image data read. The image is a full screen png file. Does these timings looks correct ?

I have to improve my data loading routing which loads 150+ files, in total size of around 170KB, in different resolutions. It takes about 60secs loading those images in jar while creating an image for each.

Any idea other than packing them into single dat ? It seems using a single dat file instead of many files wont improve the performance much.

I was wrong on "It seems using a single dat file instead of many files wont improve the performance much". It dramatically helps (around 3x) if we have many small files.
