Lists and ChoiceGroups do not support horizontal formats. They only append items in vertical manner as I'm sure you've already discovered.

Other than that, for any image or some items, if they are small enough to fit onto the screen, appending them onto the form will place them side by side, and whatever cannot fit will be appended to next line.

All depends on the width of the individual phone screen and the size of the image.

If you want to fully control this, one way is to implement CustomItem and draw the image icons on the screen using Graphics object. However, you will have to handle traversal through the icon list by yourself.

Here are links to customItem articles:

    Hope this helps.

No. You are right. MIDP 1.0 does not support CustomItem.

If you need to implement something like CustomItem in MIDP 1.0, you can try using a Canvas. Canvas also has a paint method. Again, you will need to handle key events in order to handle traversal, or any other event you want to occur.

Re: Horizontaly display Mobile Selection Menu icon

    Hallo
U just use image item and setDefaultcommand to each imageitem and place it using anchor Layout_2|Layout_yourchoice

if you want use customitem download midp2.0 enabled toolkit

in that you can create image icons using graphics class and then append the customitem as awhole to form. then image will not be items so you have to make your own traversal method be overridden to your program.
