    Re: No BlueTooth Serial Profile on Nokia 6680 !

    Hi all

    I also started doing developing for a project. It has to connect via Bluetooth Serial Port Profile. Where is the documentation to check before you buy a phone???!??

    I have used a 9300, a 6260, and a 6680, just to find that everytime I try to connect they don't have SPP. It is asif the newer phones don't have this ability.

    I spent and wasted so much time with it. Does anyone know if the 7610 supports SPP? This is my next option (phone available) else I have to go and find/buy another one/make

    hi,

    In Nokia's devices, the core Bluetooth API (javax.bluetooth) is implemented and you can access RFCOMM (Serial Port), L2CAP, and SDP protocols using Java APIs. The OBEX API is not implemented.

    if a device has not what is listed to have it should be technote-d I think,

    Congratulations for not reading the whole thread. Where is your application code? Is it on the phone or on another device?

    If your code is on another device and you are used to connect to the SPP of a mobile phone, please, please, go for DUN SPP or the Headset SPP or the Nokia PC Suite SPP, depends on the things you want to do.

    If your code is on your mobile phone, no one limits you from creating a new SPP yourself either in J2ME JSR-82 or directly in Symbian OS Bluetooth APIs.

    There is no need for a SPP Bluetooth profile visible in the service discovery on a mobile phone.

    Another interesting thing is if you look at the device specs of -say 6682- http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices/6682 .

    It doesn't say it support JSR-82. But it actually does !

    Re: No BlueTooth Serial Profile on Nokia 6680 !

    I am not sure whether this is the right thread, but it seems so.

    I am trying to connect two phone together using Bluetooth for the purpose of information transfer. I want to use spp, but I cannot find my service on the phones.

    I am using two Nokia 6021s and use midlets.

    The server code:
    PHP Code:
    public void run()
    {

    LocalDevice local LocalDevice.getLocalDevice();

Discoverable(DiscoveryAgent.GIAC);

    notifier = (StreamConnectionNotifierConnector.open("btspp://localhost:" +

    uuid ";name=MeetNMatch;authorize=false");

    notifier.acceptAndOpen();

    The client code after finding the device:
    PHP Code:
    public synchronized void run()
    {

    LocalDevice local LocalDevice.getLocalDevice();

    DiscoveryAgent agent local.getDiscoveryAgent();

    UUID[] uuids = new UUID[] { uuid };

    agent.searchServices(nulluuidsbtDevicethis);

    wait();
    }

    public
    synchronized void serviceSearchCompleted(int arg0int arg1)
    {

    notify();
    }

    public
    void servicesDiscovered(int arg0ServiceRecord[] arg1)
    {
      for (
    int i 0arg1.lengthi++)
      {

    services.addElement(arg1[i]);
      }

    But no services are found

    Also, the SUN WTK Bluetooth example also doesn't work on my nokia 6021s. I start a server with one and publish some images and start a client with the other and search. I get the message:"No proper services were found!".

    This makes me think that spp might not be supported or something like that, but if I do get a message when setting up a server if I want to allow the midlet to access Bluetooth. Also, when I try to set up a server using OBEX ("btgoep") I get the message that it's not supported. So that makes me think that it (spp) is supported.
