Question configuring the emulator to use the internet

    Hello,

I'm struggling to configure the emulator to communicate with the internet via the ethernet(wifi). I am running on Windows XP using the Series 60 2nd Editor FP2. I have aggregated what I've learned so far in this post.

This is where I wish I as working with open source. It appears the heart of the problem has to do with the Symbian OS requesting an IP address the DHCP server. This fails. Since it is not open source and the failure is largely silent, I am pursuing this line of thought because the IpAddr field in the LANServices table is 0.0.0.0 the cedout.cfg file. I compared this file with one from a colleague who has this working. In his case, this field has a reasonable value.

Comments, questions and suggestions are most welcome. How does network_config.bat request in IP address from DHCP? Are there log files or debug switches to confirm what's happened?

Thanks for your time and consideration.

    Sincerely,

    John

    Hello,

Turns out winpcap(www.winpcap.org) wasn't working. Here are some tips to debug your winpcap installation.

So, DHCP now provides a reasonable IP Address. Unfortunately, the emulator is now talking with the Common Unix Printing Systems via the internet. I do not understand this one, yet. Any pointers would be most welcome.
