Deployment tool could not be initialized

When I fire up the Nokia J2ME Developer Suite 2.2, I get an error message saying

CNdsobexApp::ConnectServiceLayer(): Failed to get IID_ISLDeviceList interface!

Clicking Okay leads to a message that says

    Couldn't connect to service layer.

And then the SDK starts up with a message at the bottom that says

Deployment tool could not be initialized.

I haven't used the SDK in a while, but this has never happened before. I reinstalled Java (needed to anyway to upgrade to 1.4.2_08) and rebooted the PC without avail. I haven't yet reinstalled the Nokia SDK, but does anyone have any idea what these error messages mean? I certainly need the deployment tool to work. Thanks.

Re: Deployment tool could not be initialized

I am a newbie....but after installing Carbide.j, and launching his tool....there appears the same text:" Deployment tool could not be initialized."
I installed two sdks...what could be the reason?

Re: Deployment tool could not be initialized

    hi,
are you trying to send application to real device using "Deployment" panel?
Before you can deploy applications to a real device via Bluetooth, make sure that you have configured and created a Bluetooth connection between your PC/laptop and the actual device.
do you have Nokia PC suite installed with your carbide.j installation?

    No.
"Deployment tool could not be initialized." is what it says when you start up Eclipse after installing Carbide J.
Couldn't be initialised..Really? Well what's the reason?? -I just did a fresh install on a brand new PC

Re: Deployment tool could not be initialized

If you try to use the Deployment tool in an IDE with Carbide.j integration and you have not installed Nokia PC Suite 6.8, you will get an error message Deployment tool could not be initialized in the Carbide.j console window. Install Nokia PC Suite 6.8 to get the deployment tool to work.
