What is the Maximum size of a J2ME applications that can be ported on to the device? This is with respect to the memory footprint and also with respect to the heap size.

Naturally this depends on the device and its resources. When we talk about the Nokia devices, the final decision about this is yet not made.

Also operators may have their own limitations for the application sizes(for example 10kB or 30kB).

Nokia has plans to reach the maximum application size of about 30 kB. However, note that this issue is not yet determined.

    Based on my own experiments:
On the 6310i the maximum jar size is 30200 bytes (compressed).
I belive there is 144k of heap.
