    Auto Start of the application

I have developed one recognizer to autostart one of my application. It is working fine.

But i need to implement one more feature. i.e., my application should start up in background and shouldn't run in foreground when is started by the recognizer sot that when phone is restarted user will not know that my application is starting and should run in foreground as soon as application is started running as soon as it is installed(FILERUN,RI) or user explicitly opens the application after it is installed(SINCE USER IS SELECTING)

I know how to send application background but don't know whether application is started by recognizer or not.

    Thanks in advance,
    SSS

    Hi,

Can you please tell me how to write an symbian which auto-start? Or please give me pointers in how to achieve that?

    Thank you.

you could try sending a message or event to your application from your MDL after starting it up for telling it to go background.

Or you could try implementing your applications as a server.

Okay. Could you please tell how to make an application as a server or where I can find some details?

    Thanks a lot.

SDK's have Client-Server examples available, thus you could have look into them maybe.

This thread gives a very good example of autostart an application.

    Another autostart example at

    lotus110,

You seem to be developing for S60 3rd Edition where there is a dedicated API for starting applications on device's boot, see Startup List Management API.

For S60 2.x there is a Symbian API plugin that provides the same functionality.

If you need a proper file recognizer look in SDK's examples and docs.

Re: Auto Start of the application

ltomuta is right, you can just use Startup Management API to start your application automatically. There is also an entry at Wiki to make the behavior of auto-start dynamic (so you know when it is started from main menu or it is auto-started). http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.ph...oot_dynamic%3F

If you are going to support dynamic auto-start as described on that page, you may have a problem when auto-starting the app from .sis file (using FR, RI).
The problem may occur because the parameter that you got from ProcessCommandParametersL() is the same between auto-start after phone reboot and auto-start after installation. It's a bit tricky to distinguish between them.

However, if you just want to distinguish between start from main menu and auto-start after phone reboot, the article at the link above should just work.

I think the original poster got his answer in 2005.

It was Junmobus who mysteriously resurrected the thread.

Re: Auto Start of the application

Hi. I'm trying to autostart an application in my Nokia 6110 Navigator. I've tried almost everything, and I would like to know if anyone has found a way to do it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
