    Angry ERROR: RCMake failed: (Bitmaps): bmconv.exe failed with code 5

    Hello guys!

    I'm a newbie to Symbian development and i'm experiencing this issue since yesterday and i really cant figure out what's wrong: i created a standard Document/View project and it came without any bitmap in it. To load bitmaps from code, i needed to compile the mbm file (right?); after i've added this section to my mmp project file

    Code:
    /* [+] */ START BITMAP GFXTest.mbm
      /* [+] */ HEADER
      /* [+] */ SOURCEPATH                              ..\images
      /* [+] */ SOURCE                        c12 cursore256.bmp

    /* [+] */ END
    It doesnt compile anymore. Visual Studio 2003 fails. That's my build log:

    I found out by executing "bmconv.exe /h\KG\GFXTest\inc\GFXTest.mbg \Symbian\8.1a\S60_2nd_FP3_B\Epoc32\release\winscw\UDEB\z\syst em\apps\GFXTest\GFXTest.mbm /c12\KG\GFXTest\images\cursore256.bmp" that the problem is given by the destination path... if i stick a "c:" before the "\Symbian\..." thing it works. But just on command line... IDE compilation still doesnt work!

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

    It seems that you have your Visual Studio project on drive I: and the bitmap on drive C:, is that correct? If yes, then try to put the bitmap on the same drive as the project, as all of the Symbian SDK toolchain is based on the assumption that the files and the SDK are on the same drive, the same restriction has been carried over to NDS.

    Thanky you! That really helped me out! I had to bring the whole folder to c: drive, as my graphic and code were already in same folder in i:!

    Re: ERROR: RCMake failed: (Bitmaps): bmconv.exe failed with code 5

    For some reason, the copy phase still assumes that the file is on I:??

    How did you move the project from I: to the C: disk? If you just made a copy, the information in the vcproject file might contain some pointers to fixed drives?

    To move safely a project to a new location, copy the .mmp file and the source, header, .rss etc files (but not vcproject etc) to the new location and them do an Import Symbian project (from File menu) from that location, this should set up everything correctly.

    Also note that NDS itself should be on the same C: drive as the SDK and the project files.
