List of phones that support SP MIDI ringtones?

Can anyone post a list of phones that support the download of SP MIDI (.mid) files for use as ringtones over a WAP connection? I am interested in all makes and models of phones, not just Nokia. Thanks!

RE: List of phones that support SP MIDI ringtones?

    Hi,

I don't think there's any other phones supporting SP-MIDI than Nokia at the moment. From the "Nokia phone messaging characteristics" -document you can find out which Nokia phones support SP-MIDI. Downloadable from http://www.forum.nokia.com/files/nds_disclaimer/1,1183,2313,00.html.

    Best regards,

Any General MIDI playback device can play an SP-MIDI file. If the device is not SP-MIDI aware, it will ignore the MIP message (maximum instantaneous polyphony) and just try to play all MIDI channels at the same time. So for example, you could play an SP-MIDI file on a Sanyo phone that contains a Yamaha sound chip.

Most European and American manufacturers are committed to going over to SP-MIDI as the universal format. This list includes Ericsson and Motorola. It will probably take a few quarters before before their products support it, but it should happen within a year.
