FM Radio Control from J2ME or C++

    Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible through MMAPI or a nokia API to control the FM radio present in phones such as 3230, 7710 and others (whether visual radio enabled or not). If there is no solution for J2ME do you know if it is possible in symbian C++?

    Thanks,

    Alex Kritikos

Possible: Yes (as the radio app does it on the phones). Documented/published APIs for it: No.

    Thanks for your response.
So in theory any phone model that runs symbian and has a radio should be able to do it but i will need to somehow guess how this is done. Is there no phone that can do this through J2ME's MMAPI?

    Thanks,

Yes, you will need to guess (reverse engineer) the built-in FM radio app's behaviour (not easy and not guaranteed to work the same on any other device than the one you figure it out on).

    Thanks again for your response.

Anybody from Nokia that cares to comment? what is the official line by Nokia? Do i have to go with the series 60 based Siemens SX1 phone or is it possible to do it with a visual radio enabled phone?

    Thanks,

Re: FM Radio Control from J2ME or C++

I suppose the "official line" is what's documented in the published J2ME and C++ Nokia SDKs and related documents (and if there are no FM radio APIs there to be found... well, you have the answer).

If Siemens have documented such APIs for their implementation on the SX1, then that's fine for those phones (but won't help with any others). Have they done that; I haven't looked at any Siemens SDKs?

actually, there is something in the mmapi :
    capture://radio
(with f (frequency) and st (stereo) as option, afaik)
but to know which phone support this ...
