    Nokia 6680 reports 3gpp file type not supported

    Hi guys

    I'm trying to make a video available for download via a download descriptor (.dd).
    My download descriptor is as follows.

    Code:
    <media xmlns="http://www.openmobilealliance.org/xmlns/dd">
    <name>test video</name>
    <vendor>MNET</vendor>
    <description>small test video</description>
    <objectURI>http://msstage.mweb.com/m-mobile/videos/test/13102005.3gp</objectURI>
    <size>335423</size>
    <type>video/3gpp</type>
    <type>application/vnd.oma.drm.message</type>
    <installNotifyURI>DownloadInfo.aspx</installNotifyURI>
    </media>
    When I access the dd via the phones browser it appears to understand the above dd without a problem (it reports type as : File).

    However, when I say accept - it appears to download the file - but then reports "Phone does not support this content type"

    But if I link to the video directly it plays fine.
    The server is running IIS and has the following mime type setup:

    .dd: returns "application/vnd.oma.dd+xml"
    .3gp: returns "video/3gpp"

    Help - I'm ready to pull my hair out - what have I missed ???

    Re: Nokia 6680 reports 3gpp file type not supported

    Hi guys

    I've found the answer to my troubles.
    There were two problems.

    1: If the installNotifyUrl is invalid or the server returns an error response then the download fails (as per the oma spec)
    2: If the size specified does not match the download file size, then it fails.

    Both times reporting: "Phone does not support this content type."
    Not a very helpfull error I must say.

    Re: Nokia 6680 reports 3gpp file type not supported

    there is probably an error with your .dd
    you indicate that the type of your object is a DRM file format but the extension of your object is a 3gp file:
    <objectURI>http://msstage.mweb.com/m-mobile/videos/test/13102005.3gp</objectURI>

    the correct <objectURI> is probably this one:
    <objectURI>http://msstage.mweb.com/m-mobile/videos/test/13102005.dm</objectURI>

    I am not sure....

    Re: Nokia 6680 reports 3gpp file type not supported

    Gary,

    I had a similar problem just trying to do a straight download of a film onto the phone (no security invovled). I'm using a 6230 and and set the mimetype as video/3gp. The film downloaded ok and then when I tried to run it, it just said, unknown filetype?

    Might you have any ideas what is going on here. I'm pulling my hair out now!

    Cheers

    Aly

    alyad - video/3gp is an invalid MIME type. You need video/3gpp

    Re: Nokia 6680 Response Media Type Error

    Hi
    I am very new on mobile development but i need to send a wap push on a nokia 6680 device. The wap push includes a link like http://xxxxxx.xxxx/y.asp?id= 34567. This asp page includes the following code
    <code>
    dim objStream
    set objStream = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Stream")
    '// Open .JAD file
    objStream.Type = 1 'binary
    objStream.Open
    objStream.LoadFromFile Server.MapPath("/myjad/" & fileName)
    'Content-type: application/java-achieve
    response.ContentType = "text/vnd.sun.j2me.app-descriptor"
    response.BinaryWrite objStream.Read
    objStream.Close
    set objStream = Nothing
    </code>
    where filename is a jad file (corrsponding to the value of id param). This jad file points to a jar file , which is the file that i need to be able to download...but when i get the wap push on my nokia 6680 and click on the http://xxxxxx.xxxx/y.asp?id= 34567 link i get the message [403] Response Media Type Error.

    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance
