Why does the sample WMLScript code of NMIT can not run?

I have installed "Nokia Mible Internet Toolkit 4.1" and "Nokia 5100 SDK 1.0" on both Win2000&sp4 and WinXP.
When I ran NMIT and opened "..\Nokia_Mobile_Internet_Toolkit\samples\WML\readme.wml" and click "show on phone SDKs", the WML can be displayed. But if choose options which will call WMLScript, the phone always prompt "connection not available", no one WMLScript function can run.

Re: Why does the sample WMLScript code of NMIT can not run?

I believe, starting from 5100 SDK (and the newer Series 40 SDKs), do not need a WAP gateway for content loading (like WML); But as far as scripts go, without a WAP gateway, it is just the WMLS coming directly to the SDK, which it cannot handle and hence the error you see.
So, open the WMLScript file using NMIT and Compile it to WMLSC file. And in the sample WML files, call the wmlsc instead of just the wmls (example: call currency.wmlsc#convert ...)

Also see this following snippet from the 5100 SDK user guide:========
Like the Nokia 5100 Handset, the Nokia 5100 SDK does not require a WAP gateway to
process content. Because there is no gateway to compile WMLScript (WMLS) files, you
need to pre-compile them into WMLSC files with an application such as the Nokia
Mobile Internet Toolkit, before they can be opened from a local file or browsed on an
    Internet server.
