Why is Series 60 Theme Studio 2.0 so slow?

    Hey guys

I've just started using Series 60 Theme Studio 2.0 to create themes for my Nokia N90 and i'm finding it to be unbelievably slow. Its slow to load, slow to open themes and even slower to edit them. When I checked Task Manager it was using over 300mb of memory and still climbing!

Do you have suggestions that may solve this problem?

    Many thanks!

    TT

It is, indeed, a bit slow.

I doubt there is anything you can do, execept perhaps trying to get a faster PC.

Other than that, you have to wait for whomever wrote the program to come up with a newer version that addresses performance issues (some or maybe even most of them are probably directly related to most of the application being implemented in Java).

It's probably an issue with one or another product from these folks (which you have apparently installed on your PC): http://www.acdsystems.com/

Re: Why is Series 60 Theme Studio 2.0 so slow?

I looked at my Task Manager while messing with this last night, and figured that it was because it wsa using over 580mb worth of memory. I've got a gig of memory on my laptop and it was alot slower than I was expecting.

However, seeing as I'm after an SDK for my 6680, looks like I can downgrade my app to v1.2 - hopefully this is alot faster.

Yep, I'm having the same problem here!
And I'm running a very decent spec machine, so I doubt that a faster machine would make much of a change...

I'm hoping version 3 improves on this though.

Series 60 Theme Studio is certainly not slow and runs nicely on P3 also. The problem is it was made originally with Windows2000 backend and therefore it gives problem in any flavour of XP as its still not XP compatible and developers are sometimes lame enough to fool us. Even setup runs too slow.

Solution: Right-click on Setup program and go to COMPATIBILITY and set it to run as Windows2000 mode. Now setup finishes within few minutes.

Right click on Program Icon and do the same. Set compatibility to Windows2000 mode and see the same program will run as fast as Adobe Photoshop CE.

If still it slows in between processes, find all EXE files in the program files folder and setup same for those exe files too. Also you must be having FAT32 partition. Converting it to NTFS will be a good idea through XP's good conversion methods. Now dont ask how to convert FAT32 to NTFS. Its avaibale elsewhere on net.

Now cheer up, and ignore all those dumb idiots who misguided you!

    hi,

please post feedback about tool into relevant thread:
    http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...ad.php?t=83664

decent IDE don't need to be written for specific OS, especially if written in Java,
it could be fast as hell and take low memory (have you ever tried free Yahoo "Site Creator" editor?), it simply need to be well-written,

    regards,
    Peter
