    Question command-line packaging tools/SDK

    Hello all,

Has Nokia published any command-line DRM packaging tools so that content creators can automate the process? A search pointed to only NMIT 4.x, which is GUI only and Windows only.
Is there any documentation available for the omadrmpacker.jar files that is installed with NMIT.

    Thank you
    Siddharth

NMIT 4.1 support command line. You can find information on how to launch command line for NMIT in the document NMIT User Guide:

    http://www.forum.nokia.com/info/sw.n..._v1_0.pdf.html

As the document says, you can launch NMIT by directly executing .exe or .jar file, but you should have a look to the user guide document just in case you need to do some configuration.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply, but one can only "launch" the GUI via the command-line and specify a file to be opened in the editor. e.g. "toolkit.exe -enc utf-16 file2.xhtml" will open file2.xhtml in the edit pane of the GUI.

There is no way to *not* raise the GUI and still get the job done. E.g
    "toolkit.exe -forwad-lock flourish.mid out_flourish_locked.dcf"
should wrap the flourish.mid MIDI ringtone in a forward-locked OMA DRM wrapper. This feature would make is possible to use the binary in Perl/Shell script to batch convert a large number of files in an automated fashion.

    Thanks
    SM.

    Hi Trossmy,

I have no leads to report from any quarter about command-line DRM packaging tools. The complete lack of information on the Nokia website, and the absence of any official response is extremely disappointing.

I hope someone at Nokia is reading this.

    Best regards,
    SM

Sounds like you've figured this out already, but, no, there's no command-line DRM packer in the Nokia tools line-up. It's something that is being discussed though (and yes, a number of people noticed your post), but at this point, it's either NMIT or a third-party tool.

    Hello Erik

Thank you for the reply, it is helpful to know (authoritatively) that there is no such offering at the moment.

I also understand that there are no Java APIs into the NMIT OMA DRM engine that may allow content creators to write their own Java apps. Is that correct?

    Many thanks,
    SM.

Yeah, there's nothing documented on how to drive the DRM packer JAR manually. Interesting idea though.... I'll ask around, but I doubt such docs exist.

    Hi mat_sid,

I have found a GPL license tool to create Separe Delivery and Forward Tool using Perl (it is assumed to work in Windows and Linux). I think I can't say its name here in this forum, but you can look in google: umts tool drm, and maybe you find it.

    Hope this help.

If you're only looking for forward lock then you might check this link from openwave out:

    http://developer.openwave.com/dvl/su...hive/04may.htm

    Works perfect.

Nokia has done one command line tool that has been replace by NMIT.
It's name is "Nokia Content Publishing Toolkit 2.1".
There is a way to control it by command line through windows or linux cause it uses java langage.
Try to find one version on the net.
