    problem with importing and compiling

    hello!

i just installed the codewarrior and importet a *.mmp file (helloworld example)
with importing the file i get an message "Files missing from Files view hierachy.....These files have been added to the Files view hierachy in a group called Rescued items"

the compiler delivers 7 errors at the build:
Could not find or load the file "EDLL.LIB" for target "WINSCW UDEB" for project "helloworldbasic.mcp"
Could not find or load the file "EUSER.LIB" for target "WINSCW UDEB" for project "helloworldbasic.mcp"
Could not find or load the file "APPARC.LIB" for target "WINSCW UDEB" for project "helloworldbasic.mcp"
    .....
Could not find or load the file "COMMONENGINE.LIB" for target "WINSCW UDEB" for project "helloworldbasic.mcp"

how can i solve this problem?

Re: problem with importing and compiling

It means that it does not find EDLL.LIB (for example) in any of your "Access Path" paths (in the Settings of your target).

You have to add a path like that one:

    {your EPOC target folder}EPOC32\RELEASE\WINSCW\UDEB

Are you sure your devices are setup properly? You can try typing "devices" in the command line then checking which one is set as default. Hope this helps. Please post whether this helps or not.

by typing devices in the commandline i get that string:
    "S60_2nd_FP2:com.nokia.Series60 - default"

    is that correct?

Thumbs up Re: problem with importing and compiling

Yep. You just check "devices -help" for more info on using that. Check the docs and make sure that you have installed/configured all SDK requirements properly like the proper versions of Perl and Java. Aside from that, I can think of nothing else which can solve your problems.

Another thing to note is whether you have the source and SDK in one drive. I have never tried installing the SDK in C then importing a project in drive D. I have two PCs. One has an SDK and source all in D and the other has SDKs and source all in C.

both are on the same drive (C)
i open the example from the sdk directory, could that be the problem?

Re: problem with importing and compiling

We should not be encountering these kinds of errors if all the pre-reqs were installed properly. I only encountered the errors you mentioned if you were not able to install everything properly or the files are really missing. Another suggestion would be to search the forums for similar problems. It is highly likely that someone else experienced what you experienced before. After resolving your errors, please post here your solution. It would helpful for someone later on.

Re: problem with importing and compiling

i don't have any problems with the setup or something.
    i got the recommended things!

when i create a new project, no errors occure. but when i want to run the "empty" project, the compiler reports 7 errors, because it cannot find the files.

i don't know what to do. i tried to build the "helloworldbasic" example without codewarrior, but that didn't work too, because i have installed the visual studio 2005 beta. (i think so)

Unhappy Re: problem with importing and compiling

Aside from setting your Access Paths under <Target> Settings (i.e. WINSCW UDEB SETTINGS), both User and System Paths, I guess I am as lost as you. Maybe Codewarrior is not compatible with Visual Studio or that Perl has a hard time resolving conflicting files. I guess this is as far as my experience takes me with regards to setting up the Codewarrior IDE.

Re: problem with importing and compiling

under System Paths is only one entry:
    {Compiler}Symbian_Support\\Win32....

    is that correct?

    edit:
i just tried to create a new project. even by creating a new project with the wizard occures the error "Files missing from File View hierachy"

Re: problem with importing and compiling

yesterday i set up codewarrior on a other machine, but the problem was the same...

is it possible that the SDK (i'm using S60 2nd Edition, Feature Pack 2) causes the problems?

can i use a other SDK? i have a 6680, and i downloaded the 2nd edition because it was mentioned in the device details...
