Full Duplex Audio Streaming and Series 60 SDK 3rd Edition

Hi, I am newbie in Symbian.
    My Develepor platform is
    IDE :
    Borland C++ BuilderX
    SDK:
    Series 60 2nd Edition FP2.
Nokia AudioStreaming Example uses CMDA classes in half-duplex mode.
I changed the example code to do full duplex streaming.
But, when I try to play and record at the same time my program crashes.
Is there any way to do full duplex audio streaming.
Maybe, device can be configured using CMMFDevSound InitializeL method
    or another method(.i.e SetConfigL).

In a forum thread, I read that 3rd Edition SDK supports this functionality .
I wonder when when the final SDK will be launched?

    Please help me.

You are lucky. If you use Series 60 2nd Edition FP2 there is a sample code on Nokia PRO forum that shows how to enable full duplex audio streaming using CMMFDevSound class.

I tryed it on S60 3RD without luck so far. I need it to get it working. If you learn any information regarding S60 3RD SDk please post.

You mean you were able to get it working on a S60 3rd ed device? I think that there is no way to test full duplex audio on the emulator. I may be wrong though.

Nope, I was not able to get it working on the device either. But the behavior is the same. I do not know for sure if it is at all possible to do on a emulator. I think I read somewhere that Symbian does not restrict its MMF interface to half-duplex its the Manufacturers therefore emulator should work. Is my logic broken here? Looking for Nokia to clarify that.

    Hi troyanker,
    Thanks your interest.
This sample code works fine on target devices using Symbian 8.0a or
    higher without any configuration?
May be full duplex audio streaming requires a hardware configuration.
Is there anybody knows the answer?

I am not a Nokia PRO member,So I think I cant get it.
Could you help me about that please?

I tried a sample code on 3rd Edition SDK Beta. But it didnt work also.
And I wait the final SDK.

Full Duplex Audio errors out with feature not supported error in the emulator but works fine in a S60 FP2 device. I was able to test it in a 6680 phone. Since the Full duplex audio is supported by the hardware, I think that it is reasonable for the emulator not to support it for now because the emulator "emulates" how nokia expects the software to act given a regular phone user. I am just trying to find a reason as to why it is not supported in the emulator. Hopefully this all changes in the S60 3rd ed emulator assuming the code was easily ported from S60 FP2.

Sorry Bro, I am new to Symbian world. There maybe is a reason Nokia does not release publicly these details. But they do read forums. If you write to them they could get you that info.

If you are referring to the sample that Nokia posted a month ago then the answer is no it does not work on S60 3.0 emulator. I verified that. Unfortunately the sample need to be reworked for S60 3.0 as they changed RThread API on EKA2.

Thanks for the info and posting it here. Hope someone has successfully ported the example to S60 3rd ed.

Thanks your information. When I tried full duplex on s60 2nd FP2 emulator, I took
feature not supported error. Until weekend, I will try the code on target device(6630) and say the result.

I think it is stated in the accompanying text file that it works only on real devices not emulators.
