    Awake application on BT incoming connection

    I'm pretty new to Symbian and I've a lot to do (managers )

    As far as i understand the BTAdvertiser example, the advertising is only effective when the application is started and the "start advertising" menu item is selected.

    But ... is it possible to design a Symbian application that registers a new BT service and is awaken on an incoming connection on this service ?

    Thanks

    Re: Awake application on BT incoming connection

    I've been down this road before...

    I've "simply" solved it by launching an exe when the phone boots. The latter sets up a server (like in TCP/IP parlance) that listens on a socket and then launches the application or brings it back to foreground when a connection attempt is made.

    Getting all the pieces for this requires a bit of digging in the docs, examples, the net. Hint: look for Mikka Raento's autotstart or at www.newLC.com for EZboot to get some examples on how to start an exe at boot-time. For what's left, the SDK is a very good source!

    Happy learning!!

    Re: Awake application on BT incoming connection

    Ok .. my service is advertised on my 6680 and I can see it from another 6680.
    My problem is, now, that I cannot see it from my PC. I'm using the Microsoft XP SP2 Bluetooth Stack to get the Bluetooth services of my phone and I always discover the same 9 base bluetooth services on the PC when I discover at the same time 10 services (9 base + my own service) from another 6680.

    Is the Microsoft Bluetooth stack compatible with the Noia 6680 Bluetooth stack ?

    Re: Awake application on BT incoming connection

    Don't know why but my application relies on the btadvertiser nokia sample.

    To see my advertised BT service on my PC, I had to comment the following lines from the btadvertiserappview.cpp file :

    iSdpDatabase.UpdateAttributeL(iRecord, KSdpAttrIdServiceID, KUidBTAdvertiserAppValue);
    Strange since with this lines, the service is seen from another 6680 device but not from the PC.
