    Hi,
    How can I make a video call in Symbian specifically in Nokia 6680(Series 60

    Hi

    Video call is a special case of CS DATA call. You need to make a CS Data call. Another constraint is that Video Call is supported in WCDMA network.

    Question Re: API for Initiating a Video Call in Nokia 6680(S60 2nd FP2)??

    Hello,

    I would like to make a video call from my application.
    This application must run on a Nokia 6680 (S60 2nd FP2).
    I don't want to rewrite the native video call application.
    So I wonder if there is a way to call it from my application.
    I know that during a video call, an application called "videotelui" is running.
    I tried to launch it with several parameters ( nothing or the phone number ) using StartAppL() but it does not work.
    Do you think it is feasible?
    Do you think there are other applications involved in the video call handling (maybe this one is just a GUI )?

    Thanks

    I solved it by passing the number as a rtsp link to realplayer.

    Hello,
    Thank you for your quick answer!
    I have few questions now:
    - you said that you are using RealPlayer, it is on the recipient side, to display the video, right?
    - concerning the sender, which (native?) application did you use? is it videotelui?
    Thanks,
    Agnes

    ok, I understand the recipient side. But I don't understand what your application is doing, is it downloading video from a server?

    Thank you for your quick answer.
    Can you confirm you use something like that:

    _LIT(KMyAppName, "z:\\system\\Apps\\mediaplayer\\mediaplayer.app");
    _LIT(KMyArg, "rtsp://06XXXXXXXX");
    CApaCommandLine * cmd=CApaCommandLine::NewL();
    cmd->SetLibraryNameL(KMyAppName);
    cmd->SetDocumentNameL(KMyArg);
    cmd->SetCommandL(EApaCommandRun);
    EikDll::StartAppL(*cmd);

    What kind of access point do you use??
    I tried to use all kind of access points but it does not work.

    Thank you for your help.
    Regards

    Hi,
    I used comething like this :
    Code:
    	TFileName AppToLaunch;
       	TBuf<100> iDoc;
       	AppToLaunch = _L("Z:\\System\\Apps\\MediaPlayer\\MediaPlayer.app");
    	iDoc.Format(_L("rtsp://%S"),&KVideoCallNumber);

    	CApaCommandLine* cmdLine = CApaCommandLine::NewLC();
    	cmdLine->SetLibraryNameL(AppToLaunch);

    	if (iDoc != _L(""))
    	cmdLine->SetDocumentNameL(iDoc);

    	cmdLine->SetCommandL(EApaCommandOpen);
    	RApaLsSession ls;
    	User::LeaveIfError(ls.Connect());

    	TInt handle;
    	TInt initialAppCount;

    	handle = ls.Handle();
    	ls.EmbeddableAppCount( initialAppCount );
    	CleanupClosePushL(ls);
    	User::LeaveIfError(ls.StartApp(*cmdLine));
    	CleanupStack::PopAndDestroy(2);
    HTH.

    Re: API for Initiating a Video Call in Nokia 6680(S60 2nd FP2)??

    Hi,
    I'm new in Symbian.
    I want to know if you take KVideoCallNumber with etel capabilities, if you can control the mediaplayer to obtain the capabilities of video and if the video call you make is CS or PS.

    I found a document here called "Creating Video aplications in C++". Are you doing something similar to Streaming live video?

    Thanks in advance

    Re: API for Initiating a Video Call in Nokia 6680(S60 2nd FP2)??

    Hi Mayur... you seem to know the most on this topic. I'm trying to connect to an RTSP feed - over another number ... so my phone makes a data call to a number and then connects to the feed over that connection. Do you (or anyone) know the format of a URL that will initiate the data call and then connect to the URL? Or is this wishful thinking on my part that such a method exists? Anyone have any ideas on how to do it ?

    Many thanks!
