Unhappy Problem with FILETEXT in PKG file for S60 3rd Edition

    Hi,

I am trying to use FILETEXT in a PKG file for S60 3rd Edition. But makesis doesn't accept the line when the FILETEXT option is there.

I wasn't able to find any information in the documentation that the syntax should have changed for Symbian OS V9, and the same syntax worked fine for my S80 and Symbian OS v7.0s project.

Here's the lines from my PKG file:

    Code:
    ; Preinstallation display files
    {
    	"displaylicense.t01"
    	"displaylicense.t02"
    	"displaylicense.t03"
    	"displaylicense.t04"
    	"displaylicense.t05"
    	"displaylicense.t13"
    	"displaylicense.t14"
    	"displaylicense.t27"
    } - "", FILETEXT, TEXTEXIT
This is the error I get from makesis:

    Code:
    C:\...\>makesis ..\project_s60.pkg
    Processing ..\project_s60.pkg...
    ..\project_s60.pkg(28) : error: unknown line
If I remove ", FILETEXT, TEXTEXIT" it works, but then of course the text file doesn't get displayed during installation.

    Can anyone help with this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Thomas

FT and TE - i.e. the abreviations work fine here... however....

Actually installing the item onto a device - 3250 in this case - does not display a scrollable text entity. It appears to display about 1/3 of a screen height fixed 'note' type of component - cant find any way of scrolling it !!.

Needless to say the vast majority of the EULA can't be read....

    Is this a 'feature' ??

The Ok and Cancel buttons operate as expected - Cancel abandons installation - OK allows it to proceed.

Workaround for the locale file text displaying:
    IF Language=2
    "Readme1st_fr.txt" -"!:\system\apps\test\Readme1st.txt",FT,TC
    ELSEIF Language=3
    "Readme1st_gr.txt" -"!:\system\apps\test\Readme1st.txt",FT,TC
    ELSEIF Language=4
    "Readme1st_sp.txt" -"!:\system\apps\test\Readme1st.txt",FT,TC
    ENDIF

Language numbers can be found in e32const.h

I've also found that if you have more than one filetext and want to keep the right displaying order (as layed out in the pkg) you must specify a destination file, otherwise it's random (or has some divine logic i just haven't figured out yet).

    Thanks, that bit we know.

Our problem is that the text is no longer presented in a scrollable container, its in a fixed size note type control, which when text is longer than about 3 or 4 lines is next to useless.... Ive tried getting our legal dept to generate a 3 line EULA but they just laughed -:)

I'm still getting this same problem. Is this a known bug?

    Max.

If you type FILETEXT into the Search field of the Wiki, you will get only 4 hits. You do not even have to click on any of them, since the excerpts already contain what you want to know.

Hi i think u will write following in your PKG file

    "xyz.txt" - "", FILETEXT, TEXTCONTINUE

This will definably work, it's work for me.

    With best regards

    Amit
