The signed midlet doesn't work on Nokia 6230

    Hi all,
On Nokia 6230, the signed midlet can be installed successfully, but it is listed as light gray and could not be launched. On the other devices, nokia 7610 or sonyericsson p910 it works well.
Is the format of certificates(X509) some wrong or else, can anybody help me?

Does the JAR without the JAD alone (not-signed anymore) work?

    Hi traud,
    thanks for your reply.
the MIDlet without the JAD (=unsigned) works fine.
And the signed midlet can be installed successfully, when launch it, an error message, "Invalid application" will pop up.

Then you have a lot of fun of debugging. Check the entries with your JAD are correct, the root certificate is installed, allows code signing etc. There could be so much wrong – hard to tell. I had a missing empty-end-of-line in my JAD and that took half a day to be found.

Which certificate authority are you using? 3rd level I assume. Are you really really need a signed application? In most cases: Avoid it. The only reason I know for 3rd party level is JSR-75 (File and Personal Information Manager API).

This is similar to my issue on the 6101 and 6102, please read for more info...

    http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...ad.php?t=76457

on the 6101 and 6102, midlets cannot access the internet, user cannot change the permission for web access to be granted, so yes, i would assume, this would be a perfect example of why some midlets need to be signed.

unless this is a bug on nokias part?
