Re: How can I give my application with different Fonts??

1.Is it possible to give my application with different fonts..
    >> Yes its is possible to use the different Fonts that the device supports. If you want to make Custom Fonts , you have to design the custom fonts with images and have to manage it with your own code (In the case of Canvas.).

2.can Mobiles support different font other than English..
    >>Yes there are support for languages other than English.
System.getProperty("microedition.locale"), it should give you an information about the phone's current locale.
Please check this link for a similar discussion http://discussion.forum.nokia.com/fo...edition.locale

3.To give my application with different Font what I have to do?
4.How can we change the default font with our desired font..
    >>Could you please clarify, whether you mean changing the language or FONT?

AFAIK you could use the different languages the phone supports, But I doubt the case with Tamil,Kannada & Telugu. That you have to check it with the device.

Re: How can I give my application with different Fonts??

AS I said earlier, you could use only the default fonts supporting by your Mobile phone. But if you mean using different Font's like TimesNewRoman, Tahoma, comicSans etc in your mobile it is not possible. IMHO if your app is canvas based, you have a solution with images. Make the different charectors(say A-Z, a-z, 0-9) in the desired font and use it where ever you need.

    Hope this clarifies!

    Gopal

Re: How can I give my application with different Fonts??

The Hindi font in the Nokia phones is the one of the languages supporting by the phone.
IMHO the Hindi charectors displaying are Unicode and not images.

Re: How can I give my application with different Fonts??

Make the language of the phone as Hindi (through the phone menu) and try your app with System.getProperty("microedition.locale"), it will return the current language code.
You cannot download and install Hindi language to your mobile. Hindi will only be supported if the phone's Firmware have Hindi language in it.

Re: How can I give my application with different Fonts??

    ok..
If I create my instructions using any hindi font in word pad and I
copy that instructions and paste it using drawString then if I test that appli in mobiles(after setting phone language as Hindi) can i see my instructions in Hindi ???

For Docomo mobiles ,to display the instruction in Japanese we installed the MSGauthik font in windows and we placed the instructions in word pad (it looked good) but in JCreater and Emulator it looked as junk values (not in readable format).after compling we have tested our appli in mobiles. There we can see the instructions in Japanese font, that'y I am asking is there any special font for Hindi....

If possible, please explain the step by step process....
    thank you..
    refards,

    Hi Balaji.M,

You can display the content on high level UI components in Local languages if they are supported on the device by providing the content to the high level objects in UNICODE.

If these local languages are not supported by your phone, then you have to use your own bitmap font to display them on the mobile phone and mange their rendering logic as well if you wan to take the user input in the local language too.

    thanks,
