Able to send ringing tone to 8250 but not 8110

    Hi,

By using the FAQ example, I tried sending the ringing tone to 8250 and 8110 via a GSM Modem connection to com1. 8250 is able to receive the ringing tone, however 8110 shows Data Message Receive but not Ringing Tone Receive.

    The commands I entered:
    at+cmgs=49
    0051000A91XXXXXXXXXX00F5A72406050415811581024A3A51D195CDD008001B205505906105605585505485408208499000<ctrl-z>

XXXXXXXXXX is the moblie number i intend to send the ringingtone to.

May I know why 8250 can receive and not 8110 and field should I change so as to allow 8110 to receive?

Thanks in advance. Your help is greatly appreciated.

RE: Able to send ringing tone to 8250 but not 8110

Ringing tone is supported atleast in 8110i, I'm not so sure if it is supported in 8110. 8110 is such an old phone that it follows much
older specifications. There wasn't much difference atleast at
first glance with Smart Messaging specification 1.0.0 and 3.0.0.
User data header may follow a bit different format?, port number was
the same. You might try using dcs = 05x0 instead of f5x0.
I couldn't find anymore information about 8110. I don't think that it is possible to even update the 8110 SW to newer one anymore.
I suggest focusing your efforts to newer models.
