How to sending Broadcast message using UDP via Wifi on 9500?

I just want to know, are Nokia device allowed us to do this?
I've already make a small program for sending and receive text using UDP.
If I send a mssg to an IP on the same subsnet, the mssg is received.
But if I send it to a broadcast IP, the other device are not receive it. But the device him self receive the mssg (because it is a broadcast mssg).

So, the poin is, Are nokia device allowed us to sending broadcast message??
    Can some one help me?
or maybe some of nokia guy???

    Thanks..

    Hi Oslario

If you are able to send a broadcast message on the same subnet so i guess that nokia support it.

The point is that most ISP blocks broadcasts!

    Nahum.

    Thanks for the reply.
    I have found the solution.
I must set the broadcast IP to 255.255.255.255
Because 9500 just support this IP broadcast.
But for 9300i we can use any kind broadcast IP.

    Osla,

What do you mean by any kind of broadcast ip???? 255.255.255.255 is the only broadcast address - lock at the tcp/ip RFC...

It means that every router in the world implementing ip (the network layer 2) knows that broadcast address is 255.255.255.255. you can lock at

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSI_Model

    Nahum.

sory, I don't know alot about networking.
But, what I mean about 'any kind broadcast IP' are:
    xxx.xxx.xxx.255
    xxx.xxx.255.255
    xxx.255.255.255

I'm really not sure, it seams that all the address:

    xxx.xxx.xxx.255
    xxx.xxx.255.255
    xxx.255.255.255

are some kind of subnet broadcasting. You might not be able to use it on subnets that you are not the administrator.

I don't know much either, it's just my thought...

    Nahum.

    On 9500 U can't use subnet broadcasting. But on 9300i U can.
