    Distribution of applications

    Hi,

I'm wondering what I need to know to get a game published. Do I need to get the midlet signed? What about verification, does it need to be done? Can I just upload the midlet to a company like handango and sell it from there without any of this hassle?

    Thanks,
    Luke.

AFAIK it's better to contact distributors (content-providers) directly, or get a publisher to distribute your game.

Often verification/certification is not mandatory, but distributers/publishers may do testing themselves on a devices they have.

AFAIK there's not muich selling on handango - can't say about others such as nokia market, etc.

In Russia those channels are not represented, but other content-providers work instead, such as http://corp.playfon.com/, and sell all, including branded games (from gameloft and others), not only in RU, so I think it's a reliable channel.

Here are more than 200 independent distributers here in RU, but major 5-10 of them sell 70% of market (I do not have exact values though).

Can't say - I do not have much expirience with distribution.
