security using SATSA, howTo to develop a prototype?

    Hi,
I have download "Nokia Prototype SDK 4.0", it add support for Security and Trust Services API (SATSA), JSR177. SATSA is divided into four optional packages that can be implemented independently.

Nokia Prototype SDK 4.0 supports the two following packages:
    - SATSA-PKI defines an API to support application-level digital signature signing (but not verification) and basic user credential management.
    - SATSA-CRYPTO defines a subset of the J2SE cryptography API. It provides basic cryptographic operations to support message digest, signature verification, encryption, and decryption.

I found a document about SATSA Crypto API (developer´s guide). Somebody knows a similar document about SATSA-PKI API?

How do you simulate an application that uses SATSA-PKI?
Is it with Nokia Prototype SDK 4.0 and Java Card Development Kit?
    What is the best solution?

Will it be possible to store the cerificate on the SIM card in the phone?
Or perhaps will new phone from Nokia support use of more than one card?

I read that SATSA-APDU and SATSA-JCRMI are both APIs that allow the application to communicate with a smart card (for example, the SIM card). Do I also need support from these API in a tool like Nokia Prototype SDK 4.0, before it is possible to build a application that simulate an login-application that uses a card for the security solution?

    Best Regards,

Hi, did you solve this problem? I'm working on something similar as well and I would need a mobile phone allowing an application to communicate with the SIM card... but this functionality is not working on all the devices I know.
    Can you help me?
    thanks

joyce973, you need to have either APDU or JCRMI package supported by the phone to be able to access SIM card. Additionally if you plan to use APDU in your midlet, it needs to be signed, and also the SIM card needs some special data on it (APDU commands allowed) - see Appendix A in the SATSA spec for more information
