    S60 V3 Linking Problem

    Hi,
I have a GUI app which links to a polymorphic dll on the emulator .

It seems that if I use any classes in a dll (which I wrote) then the UI application panics with an application error of -2. If I make sure that no methods from the dll are used then the application will run fine (I commented out the code that calls the dll obviously)

I am getting no capability issues as this has been disabled. There is only one copy of the dll and lib on the machine. There are no error messages in the logs, the exe and the dll load then then unload.

This code works fine S60 V3.

    Any ideas?

How did you build the exe and the dll?

    Re: S60 V3 Linking Problem

I am using SDK s60-3.0-cpp-rb.3.6.2-Carbide.zip with the Carbide .vs.

Is it mandatory for the exports to be frozen in the dll?

No, but it is mandatory to get a fix to Carbide.vs, Carbide.vs 2.0 does not support 3.0 Final SDK just to be nasty :-), there are real problems as well.. This will be one of the issues we should fix once we release the update to Carbide.vs, stay tuned!

Does that mean then it is likely I have encountered a defect in the beta?

AFAIK I am using the latest Carbide VS release, and as documented on Forum Nokia and the latest beta compatible with Carbide.vs

Am I using the correct SDK for Carbide.vs or is there a newer one?

    Hi,

Yes, you are using the best possible combination for the time being, unfortunately not yet good enough for dll's. There will be an update to Carbide that supports the Final 3.0 SDK and that should fix the issue.
